Man Charged After Driving Car Onto Basketball Court, Striking 10-Year-Old

 A boy was struck by an SUV in Rosenblum Park on Wednesday. The boy was transported to Comer Children's Hospital with serious injuries, officials said.

CHICAGO — An 18-year-old man was charged after hitting a 10-year-old boy with his car on a South Side basketball court Thursday, police said.

Richard Davis, 18, of the 7300 block of South Constance Avenue in South Shore, was charged with aggravated battery with the use of a deadly weapon and unlawful use of a weapon on public land, police said.

Around 5:25 p.m. on July 1, Davis drove his car across a soccer field onto the basketball court at Rosenblum Park, in the 1800 block of East 76th Street, striking a 10-year-old boy.

The child was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in serious condition. Police later said his condition had stabilized.

Davis was arrested at the scene with a taser, police said.
