COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — An Avondale man was charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder after authorities said he fired several shots at his neighbors.

Eugenio Morales, 34, of the 4400 block of North Drake Avenue, was ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bail Wednesday.

Prosecutors allege Morales was arguing with two neighbors, ages 18 and 17, early Tuesday morning when a third neighbor heard the commotion and went outside to see what was happening.

The man, 39, asked if everything was OK, according to an arrest report. Morales said "I got your a--" and headed inside, the report said. The 39-year-old neighbor thought he heard Morales say "I'm going to get a gun," as he walked away, according to police.

Moments later, Morales opened a second-floor window, pointed a gun toward the three neighbors and fired a shot in their direction, Assistant State's Attorney Erin Antonietti said during a bond hearing Wednesday.

Morales later returned to the street, the arrest report said, and fired two more shots. No one was hit.

Morales was arrested about 7 a.m. Tuesday and charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder. Cook County Judge James Brown ordered him held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
