CHICAGO — A pepper-spray-wielding duo robbed several victims in Wicker Park and Ukrainian Village Friday, police said.

During the three robberies, two women approached other women and asked for directions before spraying them with pepper spray and robbing them of their cellphones, purses and other items. The thieves then drove off in a cream-colored, older car, police said.

The incidents occurred Friday:

• At 5:35 p.m., in the 2400 block of West Cortez Street

• At 8:05 p.m., in the 1700 block of West Haddon Street

• At 10:50 p.m., in the 2200 block of West Hirsch Street

One of the thieves described as a black woman with a medium complexion standing about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. She had brown eyes and black hair, which she wore in a ponytail, police said.

The other woman was described as a white woman about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing about 125 pounds. The woman also wore her blonde hair in a ponytail during the attacks, police said.
