CHICAGO — The South Loop will be filled with the smooth sounds of blues great Willie Dixon during a weeklong celebration of his influence, dubbed the "Week of Willie."

The festivities began Sunday night at Reggie's, 2105 S. State St. with the Chicago Blues All-Stars, featuring special guest Charlie Love. On Tuesday, the party heads to Buddy Guy's Legends, at 700 S. Wabash Ave., where the Chicago Blues All-Stars will play at 9:30 p.m. Cover is $20.

On Dixon's 100th birthday Wednesday, the Willie Dixon Blues Heaven Foundation and Dixon's family will host a centennial celebration with live music in the South Loop at the foundation's headquarters in the Chess Records Studio, 2120 S. Michigan Ave.

The celebration is from 5-8 p.m. and includes performances by Melvin Taylor and the Slack Band along with other special guests.

The party is free, but donations will be accepted.

On Thursday, the party moves to the North Side at the Double Door, 1551 N. Damen Ave., where the Chicago Blues All-Stars will again perform, beginning at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $15, and VIP tickets are $25. Drink specials include Jameson Irish Whiskey for $5 and Sierra beer for $4.
