WICKER PARK — If you haven't heard, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia is pretty unhappy about the court's ruling on marriage equality Friday.

Chicago's LGBT activists and advocates, who cheered the decision Friday, can get a taste of his bitter, salty tears at Geek Bar, 1941 W. North Ave., which is serving up Scalia's Tears, a specialty cocktail with a — what else? — malort base.

Reached at the bar Friday night, Laura Green, the beverage manager or "queen of drinky things" as she calls herself, said that the idea for the cocktail started as a joke from her social media colleague.

"I thought, I gotta put salt in it. How do I make it bitter? Malort, of course. It was just gonna be a shot of malort with salt," she said, laughing. "Then I said I'll calm it with some Combier [a triple-sec type liquor], and just a little sugar."

Green, a 29-year-old Lincoln Square resident, tops the cocktail with some apple pie bitters and Geek Bar is now serving them up for $10 apiece for one week. And to really throw it in Scalia's face (metaphorically), $1 from each sale goes to benefit the Center on Halsted, Green said.

The cocktail is not on the official menu now, but Green says the serving staff will offer it up — and she knows it's getting a boost from social media, since people have already ordered it Friday night.

What's their reaction?

"I mean, it's malort, so..." she trailed off. "It's not bad, it's just bitter!"

The bar's social media team is encouraging people to take a photo of their face after taking a sip and using the hashtag #ScaliaFace to get 10 percent off their tab.

Green said, "Geek Bar tries to foster a community... we're relly happy to give back. I'm really proud to be a part of it."
