NORTH CENTER — DePaul College Prep has received authorization to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, beginning with the 2015-16 school year.

“Thanks to the IB Diploma Programme, DePaul Prep will offer our students a more holistic education, which will instill in them the skills, knowledge and outlook to succeed in the 21st Century, both in their local community and in the wider world," James Quaid, DePaul Prep president and principal, said in a statement.

In 2014, the former Gordon Tech High School was renamed DePaul College Prep, reflecting an academic partnership between the high school and DePaul University.

At the time of the name switch, officials at Gordon Tech credited the university with assisting in the high school's push to add an IB programme to its curriculum.

“The opportunity for DePaul Prep students to participate in the IB programme provides them with a very strong foundation for success at a college or university," said Robert Karpinski, director of Catholic school relations at DePaul University.

"Students who come to DePaul University from an IB programme come prepared to learn, succeed and graduate on time.”

DePaul College Prep is located at 3633 N. California Ave.
