CHICAGO — Police arrested three juvenile boys and charged them for the June 17 killing of 15-year-old Kimon Wheeler in North Lawndale, according to a police statement Sunday.

Police said the three boys, who were unnamed, walked up to Wheeler at about 10:00 p.m. on the 4100 block of West Cullerton Avenue Wednesday night and tried to rob him. When Wheeler tried to run away, they allegedly shot him in the back.

Police say Wheeler was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The boys were charged as adults, police said, with first-degree murder and armed robbery.

They were expected to appear at Central Bond Court Sunday.
