ROGERS PARK—The Chicago Police Department will be conducting a DUI Strike Force Patrol in Rogers Park this weekend, according to police.
Beginning Friday at 7 p.m. and ending Saturday morning at 3 a.m., officers will patrol a designated area for signs of impaired drivers, as well as keeping an eye out for speeders and those not wearing a seat belt.
Officers may conduct breath alcohol tests and charge people with DUIs on the spot, and those cited may be taken to the nearest jail or released with a promise to appear in court.
According to the police, between June 6-7, 43 citations were given out in Albany Park when the DUI patrol was out. Of those, 23 were for unsafe vehicle violations, eight were insurance-related, five for issues with drivers' license and six for unrelated traffic violations.
Only one car was towed then, according to police.
