PILSEN — Some of Pilsen's most talented artists will be painting live Saturday for a good cause.

EXPO Collective and The Resurrection Project are teaming up to host the Quetzal Arts Fest Saturday at El Zócalo Plaza, 18th and Paulina streets, in Pilsen. The fest kicks off at 12:30 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m.

Artists will be painting large-scale works on site Saturday and a variety of artists and vendors will showcase their work at the festival, too.

After the fest, artists will donate their large-scale works to community non-profits, allowing the pieces to live on in Pilsen. El Hogar del Nino, El Valor, Ruiz Elementary, Cooper Elementary, St. Pius Church, Central States SER, San Jose Obrero Mission, El Rincon Family Services and The Resurrection Project will receive and then display the donated artwork.

Art workshops, DJ sets and other activities are also scheduled throughout the day.

Roho Garcia, co-founder of EXPO Collective and a participating artist, said the festival "depicts the idea of artistic freedom."

"As I always say, ‘Imagination is your strongest weapon. Use it.’ And that’s exactly what we’re bringing to the community — the ability to use our imagination to add more life to organizations that make our entire community better," Garcia said.

Participating artists include: Fernando Caldera; Roho Garcia; Lisa Gray; Ricardo Gonzalez; Laura Gomez; Frances Guillen; Fatima Garcia; Naomi Martinez; Xeno Martinez; Joe Mora; Melissa Paloma; Jose Ramirez; Mauricio Ramirez; Czr Prz; Gilberto Sandoval; and JC Rivera.

Other fest sponsors include Capital One and 360 Café.
