GOLD COAST — The Greek Food Fest on LaSalle Street is returning to the Gold Coast this year with a new name.

The Gold Coast Greek Fest will kick off at 4 p.m. June 26 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1017 N. LaSalle Blvd.

As usual the festival will feature food from many local Greek restaurants, as well as Greek music, dancing and drinks. But the church added "Gold Coast" to the festival's name this year to emphasize it's for everyone in the neighborhood.

"We renamed the festival this year ... so we can embrace the neighborhood that we’re in and make everyone feel that we are part of the neighborhood just as they are," said Head Priest Stamatios G. Sfikas. "We're letting people know we are here and present, and hoping to see everybody there."

Sfikas did not reveal the full list of restaurants participating, but said Greek delicacies to be served include Grecian chicken, Souvlaki (pork) kebabs, gyros and desserts like Baklava and loukoumades, the latter being fried dough dipped in cinnamon.

The three-day festival will also include live music and bars, Sfikas said.

Admission is free, and valet parking will be available. The festival will run from 4-11 p.m. June 26 and noon-11 p.m. June 27-28. Check out the flier below for more details:
