Austin Shooting Victim Identified

CHICAGO — A 27-year-old shot and killed in Austin Sunday has been identified, officials said.

Around 7:13 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot while walking on the sidewalk in the 100 block of North Cicero Avenue in Austin after being approached by several men, Cooper said.

After being shot in the right thigh, he was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Cooper said.

Byron Driver, 27, of the 2900 block of North Polk Street, was pronounced dead at 7:48 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Cooper said.
