BOYSTOWN — Despite reports of a 100-person mob looting the Circle K at Halsted and Addison streets over the weekend, an employee of the convenience store said nothing was stolen.

A police officer first called in the incident just before 4 a.m. Saturday, reporting "100 people looting" the store, according to the Crime in Wrigleyville + Boystown blog.

The blog obtained video footage from a Facebook account showing two people fighting before running into the Circle K.

Police were called to the store for a simple battery — meaning there were no aggravating factors, such as the use of a deadly weapon or great bodily harm — involving a cab driver and two other individuals, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

When police arrived, one person already had left, and the other two refused medical attention, Estrada said. No one was arrested.

The store employee, who spoke under the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak with the media, said nothing was stolen from the Circle K. He told DNAinfo Chicago the fight lasted less than a minute and about 20 people entered the store when the fight broke out.

Ald. Tom Tunney's office declined to comment.
