ENGLEWOOD — Dream Cafe & Grille is building on its first six months in business, and the owner is working on getting a food truck soon.

"It's on the list," Howard Bailey said. "The community is really embracing us."

In January, Bailey and his business partner, Terrence Ross, opened the cafe, 748 W. 61st St., which serves American and Caribbean food with an alternative twist, because there was a need for fresh foods in the community, Bailey said.

“Everything is made here on the premises. Nothing is frozen. Nothing is canned. Everything is made from scratch and locally sourced,” he said.

Some new dishes have been added to the menu in the last five months. Now there's blackened tilapia and salmon, fresh squeezed lemonade and sweet tea.

The Fletcher salad — with jerk chicken, fire-roasted veggies over a bed of romaine, olives and tomatoes — is new also, along with cheesecakes, pound cake and sugar cookies baked by local residents.
