COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Near North Side man has been charged with fatally shooting his uncle in Edgewater in April 2014.

According to police, 45-year-old John J. Myles was sitting in a car in the 1700 block of West Rosehill Drive about 11:30 a.m. on April 19, 2014, when someone walked up and opened fire — striking him in the chest, arm and lower abdomen.

Myles, who lived on the street where he was shot, succumbed to his wounds 10 days later, on April 29. But before he died, according to an arrest report, the Edgewater resident identified his nephew, now 28-year-old Joshua Hargrow, as the shooter.

Chicago Police officers in the fugitive apprehension unit arrested Hargrow on Thursday.

Hargrow, of the 700 block of North Dearborn Street, was charged with first-degree murder and held without bail.
