WEST LOOP — Good news for those who haven't been able to nab the highly sought-after tickets at Next Restaurant — its patio is now open for walk-ups.

The restaurant will start serving small plate pintxos and drinks at 5:30 p.m., according to a Facebook post. The patio will be open throughout the summer pending fine weather.

This is the first season the fine-dining restaurant has opened their patio, Next Director of Service Chris Gerber said Friday. The patio, which can accommodate about 35 guests, does not have seats.

"The guests stand at barrels with a circular table that we made and secured to its circumference," Gerber wrote in an e-mail.

The patio menu will include a selection of cold tapas, including: three varieties of Cocas (peas and chorizo, white bean and mushrooms, anchovy and olives); Jamon Ibérico; and octopus with celery salad and paprika oil. The hot items offered include: patatas bravas; tortilla with onions and potatoes; and Bocadillo de Jefe (currently pork belly and Manchego), Gerber said. Basque cheesecake is offered for dessert.

All of the tapas are priced at $12.

Next's patio will close at midnight with last call for food and drinks at 11:15 p.m.

The fine-dining restaurant is known for changing themes periodically. It is serving Tapas, a Spain-inspired meal, until September. You can get tickets for Tapas online.
