HYDE PARK — If you can come up with a poem, the Logan Center for the Arts has free tomato plants for you.

The Logan Center, 915 E. 60th St., is offering free tomato plants at its front patio and all that’s asked in return is a poem.

Nearly 2,000 seedlings will be available in 14 varieties starting at noon Tuesday and running until Wednesday or when the plants run out.

The project is the brainchild of Cream Co. and General Economy, Exquisite Exchange and was wildly successful last year at the Hyde Park Art Center and Dorchester Projects.

The art center ended up with a stack of poems.

“If you ask what does a pole eat for lunch, say nothing,” said one poem last year roughly signed Oren.

The full list of plant varieties includes Aunt Ruby’s German green, black cherry, black plum, Cherokee purple, sweet pea currant, green zebra, jaune flame, black krim, blondkopfchen, Ukrainian purple, Amish paste, brandywine (Sudduth’s strain), gold medal and speckled roman.
