Police: Driver Cited After Fatally Striking Pedestrian in Belmont Cragin

CHICAGO — A  62-year-old woman died after she was fatally struck by a vehicle in Belmont Cragin Friday morning, police said.

Around 7:20 a.m., the woman was hit in the 5100 block of West Grand Avenue and was pronounced dead at the scene, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, remained on the scene and was issued a citation for failure to exercise due care for a pedestrian on the roadway, Estrada said.

Maria Dominguez, of the5100 block of West Grand Avenue, was pronounced at 7:40 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

CPD's Major Accidents Investigation Unit is looking into the crash.
