BRIDGEPORT — Looking for a way to show appreciation to veterans on Memorial Day weekend? There's always pizza and beer in Canaryville.

Visit the Village Inn, 4035 S. Wallace St., at 6 p.m. Friday, and you'll have the chance to enjoy a slice of pizza and a drink with the Army's 21st Infantry Color Guard.

Hosted by the Canaryville Veterans Association and the Canaryville Veterans Riders Association, the event includes a cash bar open to the public.

"Stop by and have a drink with them," said Will Schmutz, vice president of the Canaryville Veterans Association. "Show appreciation for their service to our country."

On Saturday, the Color Guard — including veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — will march in Chicago's Memorial Day Parade.
