CHICAGO — Two people are dead and six others wounded, including a 7-year-old boy, in violence since Wednesday morning, police said.

The boy was walking down the street in Morgan Park when neighbors saw another boy pull out a gun and shoot him.

In Archer Heights, police were questioning two people after a 54-year-old woman was found dead with blunt force trauma to the head.

In Chicago Lawn, a man was fatally shot just before noon.

Most recently, a 57-year-old man was inside a first-floor apartment in the 1400 block of East 69th Street in South Shore at 1:13 a.m. when shots were fired from a hallway, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was shot in the right leg and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, Cooper said.

• Around 12:30 a.m., a 22-year-old man was robbed then shot by three men near 79th Street and South Exchange Avenue in South Chicago, Cooper said.

Three men walked up to the 22-year-old and one man pulled out a gun and shot the man in the  right knee before talking a backpack and money from him, Cooper said. 

He was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in fair condition, Cooper said.

• Around 9:45 p.m. in Austin, a 31-year-old man was shot in the lower right leg in the 5200 block of West Adams Street in Austin, Cooper said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, Cooper said.

• Around 5:45 p.m., a 21-year-old man was standing in the 500 block of East 71st Street in Greater Grand Crossing when he heard gunfire and realized he had been shot. The man saw a man wearing a red hoodie running away, Cooper said.

The 21-year-old was shot in the left arm and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in fair condition, Cooper said.

• At 10:40 a.m., a 32-year-old man was standing in the 5800 block of South Kedzie Avenue in Gage Park, when a man on a scooter approached and the two started arguing.The man on the scooter pulled out a gun and fired shots before running away, Cooper said.

The 32-year-old was shot multiple times and was and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, Cooper said.

According to police, the victim is a documented gang member.
