Northwest Side Burglaries Prompt Police Warning

CHICAGO — Police are warning Northwest Side residents after a rash of burglaries in the area this month.

So far burglaries have occurred near the Sauganash and Jefferson Park neighborhoods, resulting in the loss of  jewelry, cash, laptops and small electronics. During two incidents, the thieves pried opened the front door and in the other two they entered through unlocked doors, police said.

The incidents occurred as follows:

• Between 6:55 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. on May 5, in the 4700 block of North Elston Avenue.

• Around 4:55 a.m. on May 10, in the 4500 block of North Keokuk Avenue.

• Between 11 a.m. and 11:44 p.m. on May 14, in the 4600 block of North Kennicott Avenue.

• Between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., on May 16, in the 4400 block of West Leland Avenue.

One of the thieves is 6-foot tall and weighs around 165 pounds while the second is 5-foot-ten-inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds, police said.

The two were seen fleeing in a small black car, police said.
