RIVER NORTH — Pangea Properties has won three Good Neighbor Awards for its work rehabbing housing properties to revitalize neighborhoods.
Pangea Properties received a Good Neighbor Award for its nearly $1 million renovation of 3501 W. Adams Street in East Garfield Park, the company said in a news release.
The property had been issued nearly 40 building code violations and was the site of frequent illegal activity before the renovations, and the business worked with Ald. Jason Ervin (28th) during the revamp of the 38-unit building, the company said.
Pangea Properties also received awards for the $1.5 million renovation of 801 E. Drexel Square in Hyde Park and the $500,000 rehab of 1357 N. Homan Ave. in East Humboldt Park, according to the news release.
"We believe that by investing in individual properties, many of which are board-ups, we can revitalize entire neighborhoods and make them a place Chicagoans are proud to call home," Pangea Properties CEO Steve Joung said.
The $1.5 million rehab of 1860 S. Komensky Ave. in North Lawndale, which used $735,000 in TIF money, received an honorable mention, the company said.
The Good Neighbor Awards were given by the Chicago Association of Realtors to recognize "outstanding rehabilitation and redevelopment efforts that contribute to the economic vitality of neighborhoods," the company said.
