CHICAGO — A grocery store in Auburn Gresham was robbed, then caught fire Tuesday night, police said.

Around 9:20 p.m., two armed men entered the grocery store in the 7500 block of South May Street and began to rob the store, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

The victims were put in a back room as the thieves took an unknown amount of cash from Windy City Supermarket, 7550 S. May St., and fled, police said.

The victims told police they saw smoke coming from the building as they left it.

The Chicago Fire Department extinguished the small blaze, and no injuries were reported, Greer said.

The origin of the fire is unknown, Greer said.
