DUNNING — Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy will bring his listening tour to the Jefferson Park Police District as part of the city's effort to improve the relationship between police officers and Chicagoans, officials said.

McCarthy will hold a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. May 28 at St. Priscilla Church, 6953 N. Addison St., Ald. Nicholas Sposato (38th) said.

McCarthy has promised to hold meetings in each of Chicago's 22 police districts to listen to residents' concerns about crime and police service.

The Jefferson Park Police District covers most of the Far Northwest Side, which is home to a large number of police officers and firefighters. The district's neighborhoods boast some of the lowest crime rates in the city, according to city data.

McCarthy announced plans for the listening tour in the wake of rioting in Baltimore after a man died in police custody and the acquittal of a Chicago Police detective who fired into a crowd and killed a 22-year-old woman.
