ROGERS PARK — The newest planned mural for the neighborhood is a big one.

The Rogers Park Business Alliance distributed to artists a request for proposals last week for the 45-foot-by-20-foot mural at 1419 W. Howard St.

The artwork, costing no more than $12,000, would cover the east-facing wall of the private parking garage near North Sheridan Road, according to the request.

The goal of the mural is to create an "eastern gateway to the Howard Street business district," while also making Howard a destination for viewing "edgy and engaging" mural art, according to the request.

The project is required to be completed by Oct. 15.

Artists have until June 15 to submit proposals. An artist selection is slated for July 6. Painting of the mural should begin Aug. 24.
