14 Wounded in Shootings Since Saturday Afternoon, Police Say

CHICAGO — At least 14 people were wounded in gun violence across the city since Saturday afternoon, police said. The casualties added to already-high totals of a violent weekend, resulting in 38 wounded and 1 dead in shootings across the city since Friday afternoon.

A 28-year-old man was critically wounded in an Uptown shooting Saturday night.

In Little Village, a 35-year-old man was seriously wounded in a shooting while walking down the street.

In Humboldt Park, a 33-year-old woman was wounded at a party when a red pick-up truck drove up and fired shots.

In Armour Square, a man was in a car heading southbound when he was shot.

• Most recently in Washington Park, a 31-year-old man was shot in his leg in the 5100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at 3:50 a.m., said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man, who is a documented gang member, refused medical treatment, police said.

• Around 2:50 a.m. in Back of the Yards, two women, both 25 years old, were at a party in the 900 block of West 52nd Street, when a someone pulled out at a gun and fired shots, Sedevic said.

One woman was shot in her buttocks and leg, while the other suffered a graze wound on her neck. Both woman were taken to John H. Stroger Hospital in good condition, Sedevic said.

• In Avalon Park at 1:35 a.m., a 48-year-old was sitting on a front porch in the 8200 block of South Kimbark Avenue when a dark-colored sedan drove up and fired shots, Sedevic said.

The man was shot in his right thigh and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in fair condition, Sedevic said.

• Fifteen minutes earlier in Chicago Lawn, a 25-year-old woman was standing in a yard with several people in the 2400 block of West 62nd Street when a man fired shots from a nearby alley at 1:20 a.m., Sedevic said.

The woman was shot in her back and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, Sedevic said.

• In West Pullman at 12:35 a.m., a 52-year-old man was walking down the street in the 900 block of West 116th Place when a vehicle approached and someone inside fired shots, Sedevic said.

The man was shot in his leg and taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in fair condition, Sedevic said.

• Five minutes earlier in Gage Park, a 31-year-old man was shot in the cheek during a domestic dispute in the 5300 block of South Campbell Avenue at 12:30 a.m., said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.

It was a through-and-through shot, and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, Zala said.

Two people of interest are being questioned, Zala said.

• Several hours earlier in North Lawndale, a 46-year-old man was walking in the 1500 block of South Kolin Avenue, when an unknown man fired shots at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sedevic said.

The man was shot in his leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition, Sedevic said.

A person of interest was being questioned in the incident, police said.

• In Kenwood at 2:30 p.m., a 21-year-old man was standing outside in the 4300 block of South Oakenwald Avenue when a passing vehicle fired shots, striking the man in his stomach. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition, Sedevic said.

• Around 1:50 p.m. in Greater Grand Crossing, a 24-year-old man was in the 7400 block of South Princeton Avenue when he was shot in his foot. He was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital where he was listed in fair condition, Sedevic said.
