LAKEVIEW EAST — If ever a lemur were to drink beer, it would probably be DryHop's new cantaloupe and clementine wit.

Dry Hop Brewers, 3155 North Broadway, partnered with the Lincoln Park Zoo to create the "Take Me to Your Lemur" brew in celebration of the zoo's newborn crowned lemur, whose April 23 birth was announced Friday.

The brew — inspired by the lemur's diet — which will be unveiled on Wednesday with a release party at 6 p.m. For each pint sold, the brewery will donate $1 to zoo's crowned lemur wish list fund, which includes items like foraging feeders and hammocks.

"Having DryHop commit funds and support to the animals in our care is both encouraging and humbling, and to be able to share that with the beer-lovers of Chicago is exceptional," said Eric Alvarez, zoo manager of corporate alliances.

The complex, 5.5-percent traditional Belgian wit is brewed with clementine peel and cantaloupe and rounded out with Hull Melon hops, said DryHop head brewer Brant Dubovick.

Zoo fans got a preview of the beer during the May 9 Zoo-ologie masquerade, but Take Me to Your Lemur will be available at DryHop starting Wednesday.

It's the second time DryHop has worked with Lincoln Park Zoo; last year, it released a Red Saison ale to aid the zoo's red pandas.

Meanwhile, DryHop continues work on their second brewery, Corridor Brewery and Provisions, which is expected to open in late summer or early fall at 3446 N. Southport Ave.
