WEST LOOP — Umami Burger may be opening its second Chicago location in the West Loop, according to a report published Tuesday.

Crain's Chicago reports that Los Angeles-based Umami Burger has agreed to take over a 2,734-square-foot space at 945 W. Randolph St., according to sources familiar with the deal.

An Umami Burger spokesperson said she could not confirm plans to open a West Loop restaurant.

"They are scouting new locations all the time, but there is no lease signed anywhere else as of yet," spokesperson Veronica Rathbourn said in a statement.

If Umami brings its burgers to Randolph, the L.A. chain will neighbor La Colombe Torrefaction and Nando's Peri-Peri, a Portuguese chicken chain, which is slated to open next week. West Loop developer Sterling Bay owns the 945 W. Randolph building.

Sterling Bay did not return calls Tuesday.

Umami Burger opened its first Chicago location at 1480 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park in September.
