UPTOWN — The CTA is hosting a public meeting next week for residents and business owners to give feedback on the public art that will be installed as part of the Wilson Red Line renovation project.

The meeting will be from 6-7 p.m. May 12 at Brightview Healthcare Centre, 4538 N. Beacon St.

Those who come out will get the chance to meet Cecil Balmond, the internationally renowned artist and architect who was chosen to create the public art, and provide feedback on his plans. That doesn't include renderings, which will be shared with the public "on a future date," according to a news release.

Balmond's artwork will be installed inside the new station's Wilson Avenue main entrance, just beyond the turnstiles on the station house's rear wall, a CTA spokeswoman previously told DNAinfo Chicago.

The art costs $204,000 and will be installed at the end of 2017 when construction is completed.

Balmond's resume includes massive public art installations around the globe such as the Weave Bridge for the University of Pennsylvania and the Ito-Balmond Serpentine Pavilion in London. He's now working on the Gretna Landmark, an illuminated sculpture marking the Scottish and English border crossing, according to a release.

Once the $203 million renovation project is completed, the Wilson Red Line will become the only Red/Purple Line transfer point between the Belmont and Howard stops, and the only wheelchair-accessible station between the Addison and Granville stations.
