NEAR NORTH SIDE — Ogden International School will host a public forum next week with the finalist for its principal job.

The principal candidate forum will last from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 at the Downtown school's east campus cafeteria, 24 W. Walton St. A forum with Ogden teachers and staff will be held earlier that day, at 4:30 p.m.

The forum will arrive less than two months after the Downtown school's interim principal left around Spring Break for a job in New York. Karen Valentine, the head of Ogden Elementary School, is leading both campuses through the end of the school year. The school has been searching for a new, fulltime principal since Joshua VanderJagt asked to be reassigned within Chicago Public Schools last summer.

The Ogden Local School Council (LSC), which conducted two rounds of principal interviews and is hosting the forum, said the finalist was chosen from a field of 21 candidates.

Ogden LSC Chair Tracy Shine, who declined to identify the principal finalist, said the forum will be an informal question-and-answer session. The LSC is expected to vote on offering a fulltime principal contract during its May 18 meeting.
