MOUNT GREENWOOD — Those looking to avoid cooking dinner on Thursday can thank Emily Beazley of Mount Greenwood.

The 12-year-old girl who has been battling cancer since April 7, 2011, will be the guest of honor at Culver's in Evergreen Park. The restaurant at 9515 S. Kedzie Ave. will donate 20 percent of all sales from 5-8 p.m. Thursday to the Beazley family.

Emily has captured the heart of Mount Greenwood and the surrounding communities on the Southwest Side.

Her battle with Stage III T-Cell Lymphoblastic Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma has been well documented with Facebook updates from her mother, Nadia Beazley.

The most recent updates have been grim. Emily is receiving hospice care. Oncologists discontinued chemotherapy earlier this month as it's no longer working.

She continues to see receive radiation treatments, but it is simply to help elevate some of her pain, Nadia Beazley said last week.

Still, Emily has vowed to continue to fight the disease. In a show of support, neighborhood homes and downtown skyscrapers have decorated their facades in lime green and purple — the colors associated with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Culver’s employees will be dressed in green and purple on Thursday night too. Emily will also get to create the "Flavor of the Day," her own unique variety of frozen custard.

“We were so inspired by Emily’s bravery,” said Culver’s of Evergreen Park manager Amanda Smith.
