GRANT PARK — Professional sports can often bring the best, and worst, out of society.
Thousands of fans from all over the country gathered at the "Draft Town" festival in Grant Park on Thursday, many of them decked out in their home team's freshest gear.
Here are the jerseys, for better or worse, that stood out the first day of the weekend-long draft:
Randall Cunningham

A four-time Pro Bowler, Randall Cunningham played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1985 to 1995. He was the all-time leader for rushing carries and yards by a quarterback until Michael Vick broke his NFL record in 2011. Also, old-school Eagles jerseys look really cool.
Gale Sayers
Hall of Famer Gale Sayers only played seven seasons (1965-1971), but is still considered one of the all-time greatest Chicago Bears. Can't go wrong with this classic.
Emmitt Smith
The NFL's all-time leading rusher, Emmitt Smith is definitely a top-notch apparel choice, but this split jersey is not.
Ryan Tannehill
The number fading from green to orange is pretty bold, if not actually kind of cool. The Bears hat and shorts are jarring complements, however.
Vinny Testaverde
Quarterback Vinny Testaverde played approximately 37 21 seasons in the NFL. A journeyman, Testaverde suited up for seven different teams but spent most of his career with the New York Jets, as shown by this fan. His durability should be admired.
Priest Holmes / numerous failed Browns quarterbacks
The 2002 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, Priest Holmes provided a blueprint for many future running backs with his all-around game. Conversely, the Cleveland Browns have been searching for a franchise quarterback seemingly since its predecessor franchise moved to Baltimore in 1996.
DeAngelo Williams
The Panthers color scheme is awesome. Also, the author of this article has inexplicably ended up with DeAngelo Williams on his fantasy football roster nearly every year since 2007. This strategy has led to many failed fantasy football campaigns, but Williams did score four touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers in Week 13 of the 2008 season. Never forget.
