CHICAGO — Two people were killed and at least nine others were wounded, including a 12-year-old boy, in shootings since Wednesday afternoon, police said.

In the most recent fatal shooting, a red truck was seen driving away after someone inside fired shots that killed a 24-year-old man in Back the Yards.

Earlier Wednesday, Eric Washington died after he was shot on the Near West Side.

In the most recent nonfatal shooting, a man was seriously wounded after being shot in Uptown early Thursday morning.

And in Little Village, two men were sitting in a vehicle when an SUV pulled up and fired shots.

• In Auburn Gresham around 7:50 p.m., two men, ages 22 and 23, were in the 7800 block of South Carpenter Street when both men were shot in their legs, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

No information was available on the men's conditions, Cooper said.

According to police, the incident was a drive-by shooting and both men appear to be documented gang members.

• In Englewood at 6:34 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was walking out of a grocery store in the 300 block of West 75th Street when he was shot in the right leg, Cooper said.

The boy was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital in good condition, Cooper said.

• In Greater Grand Crossing around 6:20 p.m., a 19-year-old was shot in the upper right thigh in the 7800 block of South Calumet Avenue, Cooper said.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Cooper said.

According to police, the man was uncooperative with investigators.

• Around 3:15 p.m. in Englewood, a 27-year-old man was sitting in his vehicle in the 7000 block of South Racine Avenue when a black man walked up and fired shots, striking the 27-year-old in the left thigh and back, Cooper said.

He drove himself to Saint Bernard Hospital and was transferred to Stroger where his condition had stabilized, Cooper said.
