CHICAGO — A series of robberies and garage burglaries in April prompted police to issue two crime alerts for West Side neighborhoods Friday.

Three separate burglaries occurred in the area from North to Armitage avenues, and between Damen Avenue and Rockwell Street, police said. The thief has entered garages and stolen items from the garage and from parked cars at the following locations:

  • 2400 block of West Armitage Avenue on April 12 or 13
  • 1600 block of North Oakley Ave on April 20 at 9 a.m.

Police also warned of robberies in the Wicker Park and Humboldt Park neigborhoods. In each of three instances, a thief approached a loan female victim, knocked her to the ground, then took her purse or cellphone, at the following locations:

  • 1300 block of North Hoyne Avenue on April 11 at 10:30 p.m.
  • 1700 block of North Kimball Avenue on April 15 at 6:10 p.m.
  • 2500 block of West Wabansia Avenue on April 20 at 8 p.m.

Police urge residents to secure their possessions and be aware of their surroundings. If you have any information about these crimes, contact Area North detectives at 312-744-8263.
