PILSEN — Pilsen will celebrate Dia De Los Ninos with a parade and activities for kids in the neighborhood Saturday.

The 16th annual Chicago Dia De Los Ninos parade will step off at noon Saturday at Plaza Tenochtitlan, 18th Street and Blue Island Avenue, and end at Harrison Park, 1824 S. Wood St.

More than 2,500 children are expected to walk in the parade and take part in fiesta activities at Harrison Park. Activities beginning at 1:15 p.m. will include face panting, games, crafts and entertainment from the Mariachi Project, Isaiah Pittman V and more.

At the park, the Chicago Dia De Los Ninos group will honor U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) for his work on immigration reform and advocacy, and The Dream Scholarships will be presented to students.

The Dia De Los Ninos holiday, or Children's Day in English, is traditionally celebrated on April 30th in Mexico.
