CHICAGO — Parents are encouraged to attend a free conference where they will learn how to start different groups and build a community garden on May 2.
The event will be held at Whitney M. Young High School, 211 S. Laflin St., on the Near West Side, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be workshop breakout sessions, said CPS family and community engagement manager Mirlene Dossous.
Some of the workshops include topics such as "Building your school community garden," "Starting a Friends of," and "Restorative practices."
There will be door prizes for the first 50 parents to arrive on site. Register online at cps.edu/ParentConference2015.
