Victims of Double Homicide in Belmont Cragin Identified

BELMONT CRAGIN — The victims in a double homicide Sunday morning in Belmont Cragin have been identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner as as Michelle Malave and Jimmy Madrid.

At 6:35 a.m. Sunday, 34-year-old Malave and 30-year-old Madrid were walking in the 2700 block of North Lavergne Avenue when a car pulled up and a man got out and fired multiple shots, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

Malave, of the 3300 block of Rose Street in Franklin Park, was shot in her head, and Madrid, of the 1600 block of North Leclaire Avenue, was shot multiple times, Sedevic said.

They were both taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where Malave was pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m. and Madrid was pronounced dead at 12:15 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.
