5 Injured, 2 Critically in Three-Car Crash Early Sunday: Police

CHICAGO — Five people were injured, two critically, in a crash that involved three vehicles early Sunday morning in Greater Grand Crossing, police said.

Around 4:50 a.m., a Ford Mustang, Chevrolet and Nissan collided on 71st Street and South Wentworth Avenue, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman, citing preliminary information.

One passenger in the Mustang was ejected from the vehicle and taken to Advocate Christ Medical in critical condition. Another passenger in the Mustang was airlifted and also taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition. The driver of the Mustang was taken to Holy Cross Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Sedevic said.

The two occupants of the Chevrolet were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and listed in fair condition, Sedevic said.

The three occupants in the Nissan refused medical treatment on the scene, Sedevic said.
