LINCOLN PARK — Chicagoans stepped outside to get a taste of spring Friday with temperatures hitting 77 degrees in some parts of the city.

Terrance Samuel, 40, and his daughter, Josie, 1, sat outside in Lincoln Park to enjoy the sunny skies.

"This is perfect," Samuel said. "This is what we love about Chicago. There's nothing like being able to sit in the park and enjoy the weather."

Like Samuel, other residents soaked up the sun and enjoyed what weather officials called above-normal temperatures.

"Temperatures are a bit warmer for this time in April," said Ricky Castro, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Along the lakefront in Downtown, winds pushed temperatures down a bit into the upper 60s Friday. Further inland, temperatures were noticeably warmer, with Midway Airport reaching 77 degrees and O'Hare Airport reaching 74 degrees, Castro said.

Winds from the lake will become more pronounced, and temperatures will take a dip on Saturday.

"We can expect mid 50s near the lakefront and highs of 60s further inland," Castro said.

Sunday will be a more typical mid-April spring day with temperatures near the lake in the lower 50s and 60s further inland. Expect some showers to round out the weekend, Castro said.
