LINCOLN SQUARE — The Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce says it welcomes another chamber specifically for Ravenswood but says a report that it is "rebranding" is incorrect.

Spokeswoman Lisa Ripson says the Lincoln Square Ravenswood chamber "has no plans regarding rebranding and has no plans in the future to rebrand."

"We have an obligation to our members in Ravenswood and will continue supporting them through events, marketing, and referrals," Ripson said in a statement.

Ripson was responding to an earlier DNAinfo report about Ravenswood getting its own chamber with help from the Ravenswood Community Council.

Some behind the Ravenswood effort said the area felt "a little under represented."

Ripson said the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce has "welcomed and engaged the businesses in the Ravenswood community for the last three years."

She said the organization was asked by the 47th Ward alderman’s office and the Chicago Department of Planning to expand its boundaries in 2012 and "we did so with gusto."

"We are thrilled to continue to welcome members of the Ravenswood Community to our Chamber of Commerce to this day. Within the last two months 13 new businesses have joined the LSRCC as members. Six of which are from Ravenswood," she said.

Currently, 25 percent of LSRCC membership comes from the Ravenswood neighborhood.

"We have an obligation to our members in Ravenswood and will continue supporting them through events, marketing, and referrals," she said.

As for the new chamber, Ripson said: "Both organizations seek to help small businesses grow and prosper and we look forward to working with them to create an even better business community."
