Roxie's Pizza and Beer to Add Patio in Wicker Park

By Alisa Hauser | April 14, 2015 9:37am

WICKER PARK — Patio season is underway and Roxie's has brought out the picnic tables so customers can feast on Brooklyn-style slices while sitting on colorful plastic chairs made to resemble Adirondacks.

A block north of the neighborhood's main hub, and near the Milwaukee/Leavitt on-and-off ramp to The Bloomingdale Trail, the roadside stop in the former Wicker Park Cafe Con Leche outpost sells pizza slices and beer by the glass and pitcher.

Restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff was in the neighborhood on Monday afternoon to oversee the setup, which has about a half dozen tables and 65 seats.

Sodikoff said the patio, at 1732 N. Milwaukee Ave., was not yet officially open but would be so in "a day or two."

The weather Tuesday is expected to be in the 60s. Late Monday, some folks were observed on the patio. The restaurant was initially closed on Mondays when it opened in November, but became a 7-days-week operation in December.
