CHICAGO — A 32-year-old is facing criminal charges after holding his two children hostage in Belmont Heights Tuesday morning, police said.

Police said the situation began around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday in the 3000 block of North Harlem Avenue when they got a call about a man with a gun. Police said the man, identified as Ross M. Bulski, had forced his wife out of the house at gunpoint and then barricaded himself inside.

Police were able to negotiate with Bulski, and he was taken into custody around 10 a.m., police said. No one was injured in the incident, and officers recovered a gun from the scene, police said.

Bulski was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery, police said.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the children were ages 4 and 9.
