CHICAGO — Two people are dead and at least 11 others wounded in shootings since Wednesday evening, police said.

A 16-year-old boy was fatally wounded when he was shot in the 3000 block of West 71st Street.

A 36-year-old man was shot multiple times while arguing with another person in West Englewood.

Wednesday afternoon, a 23-year-old man was shot near a playground full of children in Edgewater.

In the most recent nonfatal shooting, a man was critically wounded in South Shore.

Around 6:20 a.m. Thursday, police responded to shots fired in the 7100 block of South Cyril Avenue. When they arrived they found a man, whose age was unknown, unresponsive after he was shot in the face, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police spokesman.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and listed in critical condition, Sullivan said.

• In Englewood at 3:55 a.m., the two men, ages 31 and 35, were sitting a vehicle in the 6600 block of South Union Avenue, when a dark-colored SUV pulled up and someone inside fired shots, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The 31-year-old was shot in the lower back, and the 35-year-old was shot in the chest. They were both taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions had stabilized, Estrada said.

• In Kenwood around 2:30 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in the side in the 4600 block of South Lake Park Avenue, Estrada said.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Estrada said.

• Several hours earlier around 11:50 p.m. in Brighton Park, a 22-year-old man was driving his motorcycle through an alley in the 4500 block of South Troy Street when someone fired shots from a gangway, striking the man in the lower left leg, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Estrada said.

• Five minutes earlier in Englewood, a 21-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 500 block of West 61st Street when a black SUV pulled up and someone inside fired multiple shots, striking the man on the right side of his body, Estrada said.

The man ran to a nearby porch and collapsed. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Estrada said.

• Around 11:05 in West Englewood, a 23-year-old was standing on the porch in the 6500 block of South Laflin Street when another man walked up and opened fire, Estrada said.

The man was shot in the arm and leg and taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Estrada said.

• In Washington Heights at 9:30 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was standing on the sidewalk in the 9900 block of South Peoria Street when a vehicle pulled up and fired shots, striking the teenager in the foot, Estrada said.

A friend drove the teenager to Roseland Community Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Estrada said.

• In Roseland at 5:40 p.m., a 29-year-old man was in the 300 block of West 95th Street when he was shot in the leg, arm and buttocks, Estrada said.

The man was taken to an area hospital in serious condition, Estrada said.

• Around 5:05 p.m. in North Lawndale, a 21-year-old was shot in the lip in the 3800 block of West Roosevelt Road, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Estrada said.
