CHICAGO — At least six people were wounded in shootings across the city since a Tuesday homicide in Englewood.

The most recent shooting happened around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday within blocks of two fatal shootings that occurred in Englewood in the previous 36 hours.

Earlier, around 1:40 a.m., a 19-year-old woman was shot multiple times in Rogers Park.

The most violent incident left a 22-year-old woman and 19-year-old man hospitalized after a shooting in Avalon Park, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Around 4 p.m., the two were driving in the 1200 block of East 79th Street when another car pulled alongside and the driver opened fire into the car. When the two tried to escape the gunfire they drove into another car and the shooter drove off, Sedevic said.

The 22-year-old woman was shot in her arm and taken to Christ Hospital, where her condition was stabilized. The 19-year-old man was shot in his arm and back then taken to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition, Sedevic said.

A 29-year-old woman who was driving the other car was taken to Jackson Park Hospital, where her condition was stabilized, Sedevic said.

Around 5:20 p.m., a 48-year-old man was shot multiple times as he walked in the 800 block of South Pulaski Road in Garfield Park, Sedevic said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, Sedevic said.

Around 7:15 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in his wrist and back after an argument in the 3800 block of South Kedzie Avenue in Brighton Park, Sedevic said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings, police said.
