CHICAGO — A man tried to lure two 9-year-old boys into his van Monday in Austin, police said.

The boys left their school in the 700 block of North Lorel Avenue around 3:15 p.m. and headed southbound toward Huron Street when a man pulled up in a white van. The man got out of the van with candy in his hand and said "Come here, I got some candy for you," according to police.

The boys ignored the man and continued walking, but sprinted home when they noticed the van following them. Another man was also in the van, police said.

The man who got out of the van was a black man in his 30s, about 6-foot-tall and weighing around 180 pounds. He was wearing sunglasses, a black hat, a black hooded sweatshirt under a dark jacket and dark pants during the incident, police said.

Anyone with information on the incident should call detectives at 312-744-8266.
