WEST RIDGE — The proposal to open a medical marijuana dispensary in a Peterson Avenue strip mall has been dropped.

Patrick Lamb, the attorney for Green Earth Solutions LLC, confirmed his clients pulled the proposal after the clinic didn't make the cut in the state's initial batch of licensed dispensaries.

Lamb didn't say whether Green Earth, owned by Jody Bhambra, would try again to open a dispensary.

Bhambra and a security firm presented plans for the dispensary at a community meeting in December. Some residents were put on edge by the high level of security planned for the clinic, at 1954-68 W. Peterson Ave., which included facial recognition, armed guards and armor plating.

Meanwhile, the state did approve a license for a dispensary nearby at the intersection of Western and Devon avenues. Bob Kingsley, of 420 Capital Management, plans to convince the community and Zoning Board of Appeals to approve his clinic.
