Man Robs Near West Side Bank With Half of Face Covered With Gauze Pad

NEAR WEST SIDE — A Near West Side bank was robbed by a man who hid half of his face with a gauze pad, FBI official confirmed.

At about 9:48 a.m. Tuesday, a robbery occurred at the PNC Bank branch at 2154 W. Madison St., according to Joan Hyde, FBI spokeswoman.

No weapon was displayed during the robbery and no injuries were reported, Hyde said.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 6-foot with a slim build, wearing a red jacket, blue jeans and white shoes. The robber's head was covered with a black stocking cap, his hands covered with black gloves and his eyes are brown, FBI officials said.

Bank surveillance video shows the robber with a large white mask or gauze pad covering the left side of face.
