WRIGLEYVILLE — A co-owner of Wrigleyville rooftop club Skybox on Sheffield has been fired as CEO two days after he was federally indicted on fraud charges, the company said.

R. Marc Hamid, longtime co-owner of the business, was "terminated and relieved of all duties and responsibilities" at Skybox on Sheffield, investor Edward McCarthy said in a written statement.

"Skybox is committed to providing the highest level of service to its customers and maintaining the highest level of integrity in its operations," McCarthy said.

Hamid's LinkedIn profile lists him as the CEO of Skybox for the past nine years, as well as president of JustGreatTickets.com since 1998.

Hamid is accused of filing false tax returns and underreporting revenue figures to illegally acrue $600,000, court records state. He is charged with four counts of mail fraud for each year he submitted royalty statements to the Chicago Cubs from 2008-11.

The indictment, handed down Thursday in the Northern Illinois U.S. District Court, claims Hamid would falsely state attendance figures and invoice totals to cover for more than $1.5 million in underreported revenue to the Cubs as well as the city of Chicago, Cook County and the state.

Hamid is set to appear in court Thursday for an arraignment, during which he enters an initial plea of guilty or not guilty.
