GOLD COAST — Gold Coast yogis will be able to squeeze in a yoga session before or after work at starting this spring.

Yoga Six, a yoga studio chain founded in St. Louis, is set to open its third Chicago location at 1150 N. State St. by the end of April, according to Yoga Six's CEO Dan Farris.

With nearly 7,000 square feet and three class spaces, the studio will offer about 400 classes per month, primarily in the morning and the evening to accommodate clients' work schedules, according to Jenny Kaufman, regional program manager for Yoga Six.

"We have a greater capacity to serve a beginner student, so people that are looking to start yoga will find themselves a little more comfortable at [Yoga Six]," Kaufman said.

Pricing ranges from $23 for a drop-in class to $1,249 for a yearly membership, and membership packages are redeemable for all classes at all three studios.

In addition to offering classes for yogis at all levels and a mobile app for scheduling classes, the Gold Coast location will accommodate on-the-go clients who want to shower (with water or a "cool air shower") and store their clothes during class, Kaufman said.

The addition of Yoga Six adds to the yoga competition in Gold Coast: two other studios are within a few blocks — Exhale at 945 N. State St. and CorePower Yoga at 12 W. Maple St.

"If you want to have a premium brand of any kind in Chicago, you want to have a location in the Gold Coast," Farris said. "There's enough yoga out there for everybody, and everybody gravitates to what their personal preference is."

The company has certified instructors and will offer a premium package, which includes a free yoga mat, towel and bottle of water each time the client arrives for class.

Yoga Six's teaching style is also more anatomy-focused rather than spiritually-focused in order to not "preach to people," Farris added.

The growth isn't stopping in Chicago. According to Kaufman, the chain is also opening two studios in Columbus, Ohio and one in Milwaukee.

"The more people doing yoga the better," Kaufman said.

The other two Yoga Six locations are at 2105 N. Southport Ave. and 1135 S. Delano Ct.
