BUCKTOWN — Meaghan Thomas Olson, the Eatgiardiniera.com creator whose refrigerator giardiniera collection stands at 83 jars, is organizing her first event: a giardiniera taste-off and potluck.

The March 22 event at Lemming's, 1850 N. Damen Ave., is free and open to anyone 21 and older with a preference for giardiniera.

There will be dozens of hot and mild giardinieras to sample, giardiniera-themed giveaways, Pinch Spice Market sausages and $4 beers.

Olson is looking for a few more judges for the official taste-off of 20 giardinieras. Those interested should email eatgiardiniera@gmail.com.

Participation in the potluck is not required, though Olson encourages people who bring a giardiniera dish to also bring the recipe so she can post it on her website.

"I just want us all to have fun together dorking out ... to the glorious condiment that is giardiniera," she said.
