RIVER WEST — Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson has a goal this spring: to make money off his River West townhome.

The longtime Blackhawks blueliner listed his four-bedroom home at 461 N. Canal St. for nearly $1.7 million Monday. Cook County property records show Hjalmarsson paid $1.32 million in 2010 for the residence.

A riverfront abode in the gated Kinzie Park community, the 4,000-square-foot home was built in 2000 and includes marble bathrooms, numerous outdoor spaces, two-car garage, and a luxury kitchen with island. NBA star and Chicago native Dwyane Wade sold his townhome in the neighborhood last year for $1.66 million. The town home's facade. Photos from Redfin.

A native of Sweden, Hjalmarsson has played his entire NHL career with the Blackhawks and was a major contributor to the club's two Stanley Cup championship runs in 2010 and 2013. He signed a five-year, $20.5 million extension with the Blackhawks later in 2013. Listing agent Alex Till of Baird & Warner declined to comment.
